All new clients will be provided with a copy of my terms of service prior to engagement of tuition services.
Tuition is charged at £40 per hour unless the session is an initial consultation, which will be offered at Charlie’s discretion at a rate of £25 for 20–30 minutes. This must be agreed upon in advance.
All payments must be made on the day of the session via bank transfer or contactless card payment.
Advance payments are not accepted, and no discounts will be applied to block bookings.
A late fee of £5 will be added if payment is not cleared on the day. No further tuition sessions will be scheduled until all outstanding fees are settled.
If a session is cancelled within three hours of the scheduled time, the client will be required to pay half the session fee unless exceptional circumstances apply, as determined at Charlie’s discretion.
Cancellations made with more than three hours’ notice do not incur a charge, but the client acknowledges that rescheduling may not always be possible. If a suitable alternative time cannot be arranged, the session will simply be missed with no payment required.
If Charlie needs to cancel due to illness with fewer than 24 hours’ notice, no charge will apply, and an alternative session will be arranged at the earliest mutually convenient time.
When tuition takes place in the client’s home, all residents, including pupils and parents, are asked to refrain from smoking indoors for the duration of the session.
A suitable space must be provided for tuition, ensuring that a responsible adult is contactable at all times. Under no circumstances will tuition take place in a bedroom.
Pupils and parents are expected to maintain respectful and appropriate behaviour at all times.
Inappropriate, disrespectful, or aggressive language or behaviour before, during, or after lessons will not be tolerated. Any aggressive or threatening conduct will result in the immediate termination of the tuition agreement.
Online Lessons:
Online lessons will begin at the scheduled time. If a pupil is late, the session will still end at the planned time, and no additional time will be provided. If a pupil fails to attend without prior communication, a half-fee charge of £20 will apply.
In-Person Lessons:
Pupils should be ready to begin their lesson at the scheduled time. However, when Charlie is travelling to pupils, occasional delays may occur due to traffic or necessary communication with parents, etc. In such cases, any lost time due to tutor lateness will be made up.
For sessions held in public spaces (e.g., libraries), if a pupil is more than 15 minutes late, the session will be considered cancelled, and a half-fee charge of £20 will apply.
If Charlie is running more than 15 minutes late, a text message will be sent as soon as reasonably possible to inform the pupil or parent.
The client acknowledges that Charlie upholds the highest standards of professional integrity and academic ethics. Charlie’s role is to provide guidance, support, and tuition to enhance the client’s understanding and skills, not to complete assignments, essays, or homework on their behalf to be submitted as their own work.
The client also acknowledges that intentional plagiarism, in any form, is a serious academic offense. This includes, but is not limited to, submitting work that has been copied from other sources or presented as the student’s own when it is not. Educational institutions impose strict penalties for academic dishonesty, which may include failing grades, disciplinary action, or the withdrawal of qualifications.
Charlie has a zero-tolerance policy for intentional plagiarism. If there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a student is engaging in plagiarism, tuition services will be immediately terminated. This includes all forms of dishonesty, whether through copying from other sources, submitting work generated by artificial intelligence, or presenting someone else’s work as their own.
While Charlie will make every effort to support the pupil’s understanding, confidence, and academic development, tuition is not a guarantee of specific grades or exam results. Progress depends on the pupil’s engagement, effort, and commitment to independent study outside of lessons. By engaging Charlie’s services, the client acknowledges that they are paying for tuition and guidance, not for guaranteed academic outcomes.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Charlie accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, whether foreseeable or not. This includes, but is not limited to, indirect, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from the use of Charlie Guy Tutoring Services, or from any errors or omissions in the tutor’s learning materials. While every effort is made to provide accurate and effective teaching materials, the client acknowledges that ultimate responsibility for academic performance lies with the pupil.
